So what is the strategy to overcome this resistance? How can companies leverage technology to transform their organization successfully? To find out, we are talking today to Rich Weller, a project management consultant with MiGSO | PCUBED.
Rich has nearly thirty years of experience transforming organizations through improved technology and processes. He has a master's degree in business administration and holds many certifications. These include Six Sigma, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Management Professional, multiple Agile certifications, including Scrum and he is also a PMI authorized training instructor.
Rich explains that the digital PMO can help ensure that data is leveraged in a more accurate way in existing processes. He also highlights that we should be looking more into the future and forecasting what is coming to bring value to our business and improved decision-making. The PMO provides an oversight role that helps ensure this value is driven back to the business. Today AI is being used as an umbrella term that covers a multitude of different capabilities, one of which is machine learning (ML). In Rich’s view people play a big role in the acceptance and successful adoption of new ML solutions. He recommends using proven approaches and methodologies for integrating cultural change management alongside these implementations. The key to success is combating resistance through transferring knowledge and highlighting the advantages of the new technology.
As an experienced Powow user and design partner, we asked Rich about his experience with Powow. He shares that Powow is not to be viewed as another software application he has used in the past, but rather as an additional team member in his working team.
He continues to explain that as a project manager, you have to learn how to capitalize on your team members' strengths and weaknesses and work alongside them to fill in any gaps. He uses two main use cases for Powow: to continuously improve the team's process, and to improve their decision-making. Rich and his team leverage Powow to capture Activities, Action Items, and Meeting Minutes. His favorite feature is the ability to search across all past meetings in the meeting cloud for a particular keyword or phrase that was discussed and then to go directly to that meeting to find what he is looking for.
We also asked Rich to share important recommendations about AI adoption to our audience today. Here are three he thinks are especially important:
